Sonya McEwen, BA, MED, OCT

Sonya is the Owner/Director of Adventure Academy Inc. and is an Ontario Certified Teacher and mama with a passion for Preschool!  She attended university in both Toronto, ON and Buffalo, NY before beginning her professional career as a Secondary School Teacher in Calgary, AB in 2006. 

She has extensive experience in teaching and leadership roles in Education and continues to seek opportunities to learn and grow professionally.  Sonya lives with her husband, daughter, two miniature dachshunds, and rescue kitty in Parry Sound, ON.

Jasmine Badger, BASc, RECE

Jasmine is the Supervisor/Educator at Adventure Academy Inc.  She is a graduate from the University of Guelph-Humber where she obtained her degree in child development and diploma in early childhood education. She has worked with children ages 0 - 6 at a variety of childcare centres across Ontario.  Jasmine has also worked with families at a community health centre and her most memorable experience comes from working as part of the child life specialist team at SickKids. She loves coaching and playing sports, being out in nature and has a Bernese Mountain Dog pup!

HEather Vankoughnett,
​BA, BEd, OCT

Heather is the newest member of the Adventure Academy team. She is a graduate of the Kinesiology program at York University and she got her Bachelor of Education from Brock University. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher and has been working in education since 2009 where she has taught Kindergarten to grade eight in the Halton, York and Durham district school boards. 

After cottaging in the Parry Sound area her entire life and completely falling in love with the landscape and way of life, her and her husband have recently relocated their family here. She has three beautiful children and a flat-coated retriever named Neely. 

                                                                 Lindsay Raymond

Lindsay obtained a diploma in the Criminal Justice field before obtaining her Honors bachelor’s degree in human services. She is the past President of the Students Association at her college and has a strong commitment to fitness. She has certified and taught as a guide for visually impaired athletes in Nordic skiing, adores instructing swimming to children, is an avid trainer to cyclists of all ages, and has competed for Team Canada. 
Previously a daytime Nanny, her passion remains with children and making people smile.

Alicia Harris

Alicia is one of our Educators at Adventure Academy Inc. She has worked in the childcare field for 9 years, working in childcare programs in the Parry Sound area as well as running an After School program. She enjoys having fun and laughing with the children in her care while building relationships with them that will last a lifetime. 
At home she spends her time with two children who have changed her life.
