Adventure Academy Inc. is a preschool in Parry Sound requiring a Preschool Educator . This is an occasional position.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Owner/Director, the Preschool Educator is responsible for providing coverage while implementing age appropriate programs designed to meet the developmental needs of children who will attend Adventure Academy Inc's Preschool Program. The Occasional Preschool Educator must meet all legislative requirements from the Ministry of Education to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all children enrolled at Adventure Academy Inc.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or equivalent preferred
  • Current Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) - preferred
Other
  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) valid within the last 6 months.
  • Valid standard First Aid certification including infant and child CPR - level C
  • Documented evidence of up to date immunizations as recommended by the local Medical Officer of Health or have a valid exemption.
Experience
  • Recent Minimum 1 year experience in a related childcare field

  • Passion for providing children with an educational environment where they are interested, engaged, supported
  • Understands and works within the Scope of Practice of the RECE.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport with parents, children, staff and volunteers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Computer Skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • High level of professionalism, initiative, creativity and self-direction
  • Proven flexibility and ability to adapt positively to change.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ignite children’s interest in learning by creating an environment that encourages them to explore learning materials and interact with adults and peers.
  • Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all Adventure Academy Inc. Policies and Procedures and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 / Ontario Regulation 137/15
  • Ensure positive, professional communication with families on an ongoing basis
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending and stooping
  • Ability to move freely to complete job tasks
  • Some prolonged sitting or standing
  • Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round: may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold
